Bangladeshi Made Biggest Ship successfully launched by WMShL

Chittagong, 29 March 2017: Western Marine Shipyard successfully launched first of ten 8000DWT Mini Bulk Carrier, JSW Pratapgad today. This is the largest vessel built so far in Bangladesh, marking a milestone in the country’s emerging shipbuilding industry. It was an emotion packed ceremony where the spectators expressed deep satisfaction over the progress of building & quality of construction. The Vessel has an overall length of 122.25 meter (401feet), will be in operation in the route of Indian Sea and it is being manufactured in compliance with Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), a classification society.
It is mentionable that, In 2015 Western Marine signed a deal with JSW Jaigarh Port Ltd. India for building 10units of Mini Bulk Carrier, JSW Pratapgad is one of them which has been launched. The ceremony was attended by the owner of the vessel, official of Western Marine and host of well-wishers. JSW Infrastructure Ltd. Head of Finance Mr Devki Nandan has expressed his satisfaction over the progress of building and quality of construction.

Western Marine Group signed an agreement for building 20 units of CLASS Cargo Ships

Western Marine Group signed an agreement for building 20 units of CLASS Cargo Ships.
Western Marine Group has announced that they have made a deal with Evergreen Shipping Limited for building 20 (Twenty) CLASS Cargo Ship. On 16 February 2017, an agreement for building 20 units of CLASS Cargo Ship has been signed between Western Marine Group and Evergreen Shipping Limited at the office premises of Evergreen Shipping Limited. On this agreement signing ceremony, Mr Md Sakhawat Hossain, Managing Director of Western Marine Shipyard Ltd. along with Capt. A.B.M Fazle Rabbi, Managing Director of New Western Marine Shipbuilders Ltd. and Mr Md Mostan Billa Adil, Managing Director of Evergreen Shipping Limited has signed the agreement on behalf of their respective entity. Under this agreement, Western Marine Group will be building 20 units of CLASS Cargo Ships which are to be delivered in next 36 months. These ships will be built for about BDT 250 Crore which could be considered one of the highest contracts in terms of number of ships to be built concurrently in the history of Bangladeshi Ship Building Industries.

Western Marine Shipyard delivers sea going harbour Tug Boat to Chittagong Port Authority

Country’s leading shipbuilder Western Marine Shipyard Ltd. has handed over a Sea going Harbour Tug Boat to Chittagong Port Authority. The Tug Boat named as KANDARI-12, which is 25.20 meter long with a capacity of 25 Ton BP. The boat was built under the supervision of International Classification Society CLASS NK Japan and main engine; machinery was come especially from Japan and European countries. The Boat was inaugurated by Mr. Abu Jahed Mohammed Nasir Uddin, Honorable Mayor, Chittagong City Corporation as the Chief Guest. Amongst others Rear Admiral M Khaled Iqbal, BSP, ndc, psc, Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority, Mr. Mahbubul Alam, President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce & Industries and Mr. Sakhawat Hossain, Managing Director of Western Marine Shipyard Ltd were present as special guests. The ship was inaugurated floating near Marine Workshop (No. 1 Jetty Gate) of Chittagong Port.

WMSL to handover fishing vessel for Norway on schedule

Western Marine Shipyard Limited (WMSL) presented the progress of works on the construction of fishing vessel being built at its yard for a Norwegian Firm. The progress report was presented by WMSL Managing Director Md Sakhawat hossain at a meeting attended by Honorable Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Mr. A.J.M Nasir Uddin as the Chief Guest and Norwegian Ambassador to Bangladesh Ms Sidsel Bleken as the special guest. Held at Chittagong Club the meeting reviewed the progress of the construction of the 80.30 meter long and 17.00 meter width fishing vessel being built by the WMSL at its Pangaon shipbuilding yard, under an agreement signed in June 2016.
