The world we live in is changing rapidly and so are the challenges of shipbuilding. After 500 years once again, Bangladesh has entered into international shipbuilding by signing contract for building Ice Class Ocean going vessels for European buyers.

Our journey began as a small shipbuilding company in 2000 and we started building ships three years later. Gradually we gathered sufficient experience by building 55 vessels of various types and dimension before starting the construction of the Ice Class vessels which began ceremoniously with the Keel laying on 25 Feb 2008).

With the constantly changing world economy and business orders, we have successfully entered the Global Shipbuilding Industry. I must say that it would not have been possible without the whole hearted dedication of the professionals and experts that we are proud to have at Western Marine Shipyard.

Over the years we have perfected our shipbuilding standards. Because we understand that no matter how skilled our human resources are- in the end it is firmly established management system that puts everything in a synchronized motion that matters. This system is exactly like the rudder on a ship; no matter how much you look after the vessel’s other moving parts, you may end up lost at sea. We are now ready and all set to ensure world class shipbuilding standards and customer satisfaction through quality and timely delivery.

Once again I would like to thank all the dedicated staff member of Western Marine Shipyard Ltd. as we travel together into a better future.

I would like to end here by quoting David Rockefeller:
"Success in business requires training, discipline and hard work. But if you’re not frightened by these things, the opportunities are just as great as they ever were"

    Dear Readers
Business is about economics. A lot of good comes out of it. The importance of competition, market economy and individual responsibility will remain with us for as long as we live. But what is important is to see common solutions to common problems. We must therefore invest more in our people in their jobs and I their future; and that is exactly what Western Marine Shipyard Ltd. has been doing for the last 10 years.

Here we compete for every business opportunity to fine-tune our crafts, to earn goodwill amongst our business partner and to make a lasting relationship. Building world class vessels and advancing the development of Bangladesh is a key objective of WMShL. We ensure the commitment and professionalism of our workforce in serving the customers, thereby keeping us at the forefront as a quality shipbuilder.

Judging by the orders we have received in the past few months, we expect this higher trend to continue, Meeting expectations of the customers is a great incentive. We shall leave no stone unturned to improve and develop continually. We understand that service, customer care, professionalism, timely delivery, quality and balanced price/performance ratio differentiates us from our competitors. Western Marine thanks its customers and well wishers for putting their trust and being with us both during our bad and good times.

My heartiest thanks to the 2000 plus committed and truly professional members of the Western Marine family whose relentless hard work and effort of the past has brought us here today and will continue to grow for years to come.

I would like to conclude by quoting Dr. David M. Burns:
"Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will loose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life."

    Yours sincerely,
    Md Sakhawat Hossain
