Chittagong, 15 Apr 2011: A number of Honorary Consuls of Bangladesh serving in various destinations all over the world had been invited to Bangladesh by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a Familiarization Program. The delegation includes Honorary Consuls serving in Yemen- Mr. Saleh Saeed Al Ghalebi, Norway- Mr. Eilif Dosen, Bulgaria- Mr. Stoyan Assenov Dimitrov, Malaysia- Mr. Shaik Ismail Allaudin & Pakistan- Mr. Qazi Humayun Fareed.
The consuls made a visit in the leading shipyard of the nation Western Marine Shipyard in Chittagong on 14 Apr 2011. Western Marine Shipyard had been chosen by the ministry to highlight the heavy & hi-tech industry of Bangladesh to the foreign consuls. Western Marine’s Managing Director Mr. Sakhawat Hossain explained the team on quality shipbuilding practice in Bangladesh & the emerging industry which is making a place in the world market. Western Marine arranged a traditional ceremonial program in their shipyard during the visit in celebration of the Bengali New Year.
The Honorary Consuls were highly impressed to see the yard activity & it was highly praised by them all. The Consul in Malaysia, Mr. Ismail Allaudin said that Malaysia is also engaged in shipping activity & it is a huge business over there, so he hoped that cooperation between Bangladesh & Malaysia can bring up a potential business tie in this sector. Mr. Dimitrov, the Consul from Bulgaria said that the Bangladesh Government must promote this sector in the international arena for its rapid advancement. The Pakistani Consul Mr. Humayun Fareed has shown high interest on Western Marine’s activity as the yard is already building two passenger vessels for Karachi Port in Pakistan, he said that during the delivery of these vessels Pakistan & Bangladesh will jointly create a historical milestone.
